The Wizard of Oz MINILAND is scheduled to open April 29th, but you don’t have to wait! Over the coming weeks leading up to the Grand Opening, we’ll be bringing you exclusive advanced previews with fun facts and photos from this incredible attraction. Here’s your first look at the Witch’s Castle. Stay tuned!
“What’s that? What’s that?”
“That’s the castle of the Wicked Witch.”
“Dorothy’s in that awful place?”
“Oh, I hate to think of her in there.”
Actually, visitors to the soon-to-open LEGOLAND Discovery Center Kansas City will love imagining Dorothy in this incredible replica of the Wicked Witch’s Castle, which took over 100 hours and approximately 35,000 LEGO bricks to construct. Weighing 40 pounds, this impressive reconstruction is part of MINILAND, a location inside the Discovery Center that will be devoted exclusively to Kansas City-area landmarks.
And nothing says “Kansas” better than every kid’s favorite film, The Wizard of Oz. That’s why in addition to the detailed reconstruction of the Witch’s Castle you see here, the attraction will also feature remarkable scenes of Munchkinland, Dorothy’s Farmhouse and the Emerald City.
So keep an eye out for flying monkeys and upcoming emails giving you an exclusive first look at these remarkable, painstakingly created scenes from one of Hollywood’s most beloved movies. Now repeat after us: O-Ee-Yah! Eoh-Ah! O-Ee-Yah! Eoh-Ah!

The Wizard of Oz is my all time favorite movie. It is the first movie that I saw in color. I was just a small little girl and thought it was the most wonderful thing in the world. At the time it was!!! This show is what keeps the little girl in me alive..
